Sea Sentosa

Eco-friendly practices first and foremost

Sea Sentosa

Bali’s next generation apartment resort and lifestyle enclave, Sea Sentosa, have embarked on a mission to employ ecofriendly practices during the development of their dazzling new property, promising to deliver not only a world class resort but cleaner and greener initiatives to positively affect the community surrounding the 2.8 hectare beachfront development underway in Canggu.

Overlooking four of Bali’s most famous surf breaks on the Canggu coastline between Batu Bolong and Batu Mejan, the luxury low-rise, 88 apartment resort with specialty retail piazza, swimming lagoon and two beachfront restaurants with pools, is being built with an environmentally aware design focus and a conscious effort to minimize the impact on the community.

Set to open in January 2012, Sea Sentosa have engaged acclaimed French Botanist and Vertical Landscape Designer, Patrick Blanc whose revolutionary soil-less Living Garden Walls will not only create lush facades of plants and greenery but which will double as air purification devices and phonic and thermic isolation systems. Embracing a green way forward, the development will also implement renewable solar, wind and bio diesel energy sources, install grey water systems to ensure water conservation as well as install rainwater catchments and a recyclable black water effluent treatment facility.

Leading the role in creating the striking architectural advanced development is the combined effort of Italian and Indonesian architects Giacomo Passera and Putu Edy Semara who together will ingeniously blend Balinese construction with Italian influences and the use of environmentally sustainable designs and fit-outs to create a most visually stunning and unobtrusive resort.

“You will not see concrete walls on the beach but a beautiful Balinese construction with Italian influences and art, contemporary design and the most ecologically advanced processes such as Patrick Blanc’s lush vegetal walls and indigenous materials. Sea Sentosa is a giant work of art that will in no way detract from the natural beauty of its surroundings” says Giacomo Passera.

In an atmosphere of change, Project Director, Saxon Looker whose vision it is to create not only a lifestyle development using revolutionary design and engineering, but one that is responsive to and reflective of the community and its’ people says, “The area will not only benefit by ultimately becoming greener and cleaner but will offer community services such as the retail piazza which plans to include a medical and holistic clinic, pharmacy, gym, spa, newsagent, supermarket, post office, and fashion and grocery outlets.”

“Sea Sentosa will prove that development and environment are not mutually exclusive, says Looker. “We are developing responsibly and aesthetically as well as working on long-term environment and community initiatives such as beach and river clean up programs in conjunction with existing foundations and green groups, surf life saving programs and establishing training academies and educational programs within schools and the community to reduce environmental pollution in Bali.”

“We are committed to implementing environmental systems from top to bottom with this landmark resort development as well as bringing an unseen level of luxurious and innovative accommodation and lifestyle choices to the island.” he said.
