Sylviane Chabert feels that Karangasem is 'the very soul of Bali,' this is why she has chosen Candi Dasa as the location for her two spectacular villa developments. She is also giving something back to the local community of the area she loves so much and has come to call home.
Sylviane Chabert is a passionate woman, and believes strongly in building not only beautiful homes that she herself would choose to live in, but also homes that are socially responsible with respect to the people of the local area. With this in mind she has designed two beautiful, villa developments, right on the water in Karangasem, a place she describes as "the very soul of Bali."
Both properties have great locations with all of Emerald Bay Villas having absolute beachfront access and Orion's Bay Villa having a mix of three beach front villas and four slightly set back from the beach.
She followed the same concept that she used with her own home, so in building the villas at Orion's Bay Villa and Emerald Bay she is standing proudly behind her product. "My concept is to build on the sea, looking to the infinite with a mix of Balinese -with alang alang, wood and stone- and European influences using open doors, lots of grass, ponds, pools and a Jacuzzi overlooking the sea. This is very important to me," she says. "You can go directly from your home to the water. You can snorkel right in front of the house. You can park your boat there too, go fishing, have a picnic, anything you like. You have total freedom."
Emerald Bay Villas is a development of seven five bedroom villas next to Alila Manggis all on absolute beach front and on the market for US$1.2 ranging from 12 are to just over 18 are. All have swimming pools, outdoor showers and large expansive gardens and lawns. While Orion's Bay Villa is a development of 7 three and four bedroom villas; three on absolute beach front and four behind the front villas on high ground that is elevated to a height of 5.5m, taking in the wide sea views, with private road access to the beach. They are selling for between US$490,000 and US$650,000 and range in size from 4 are to just over 9 are.
The people from the area are benefiting from the development through all phases of construction. From the architect, local suppliers, builders and upon completion, all the staff necessary to operate the villas will be from the local villages bringing much needed employment to the area. "I wanted to help the people in the village. It is a special area, very traditional, and for me it is the heart of Bali. The people in the area are still very traditional, very sharing and family orientated, and for me this is paradise," she says.
